Thursday August 20, 2009
The recording and music world was saddened to hear of the passing of music industry legend Les Paul.

Mr. Paul died last week in White Plains, NY from complications of pneumonia.

Everybody knows Les Paul as a guitar legend; what’s less recognized is that Mr. Paul was the mind behind many of our modern innovations in recording. In the 1940s, Paul released the first-ever multitrack recording — made using a unique recording system on acetate disks. Later, he moved to using mono analog tape as his multitrack format while working with Bing Crosby, revolutionizing recording forever.
